There were many cyclists riding through the long roads of Wyoming, like this dude in my rear view mirror
Shortly after Dubois, it started drizzling. As I drove by a hitch hiker, I contemplated giving the guy a lift for a moment. He turned out to be a Continental Divide Trail Through Hiker named John from Durango (trail name: slipkid).
The road I was on (US 287/26) already turned into gravel as it was undergoing construction. John needed to head off on some other unpaved road towards Brooks Lake. I dropped him off near the Brooks Lake Lodge, which is on the CDT trail (?)
If I hadn't picked up John, I would have never seen the many bluffs tucked away from the road, like this one:
